“Islom is an exceptional guide and companion. The tour went very well, despite the long distances the day was exactly as we expected. Islom picked us up at the hotel where we were staying and took us to discover what remains of the Aral Sea, the necropolis of Mizdakhan and Mount Chilpik. Very comfortable car trip and return in the same day. Everything perfect, recommended activity!”

“The monuments were very interesting, especially the sky burial. Be prepared for an V amazing flight if steps and a bit of a scramble at the top. Toilets available too. Mizdakhan was big and overwhelming in its spread. The art gallery was an amazing spread of Soviet art with some textiles.”

Sleep in a yurt, walk on the old seabed, swim if conditions allow, and watch the stars far from phone service.

“L’attività è stata bellissima nel suo complesso. Però, il nostro driver/guida non parlava inglese anche se noi avremmo dovuto avere una guida inglese. Un’altra cosa da tenere in considerazione è la qualità della strada, se si ha dei problemi alla schiena sconsiglio l’attività in quanto le strade sono in pessime condizioni e durante il tragitto ci sono buche ovunque.”

Aral Sea One Day Trip from Nukus.

11.Aral Sea One Day Trip from Nukus.

★★★★★★★★★★4.0 · 3 reviews · 1 day

Travel by private 4x4 from Nukus to Muynak and the Aral Sea shore. You’ll see the ship cemetery, museum, Ustyurt Plateau, nomad graves, Sudochye Lake, and an abandoned settlement. A yurt camp provides lunch, a shower, electricity, and possible swimming. Expect an early start, a late return, and many hours on rough roads.

“The day was good and our driver and guide was excellent. However, the company that we went with had not taken on board that we were doing the one day trip. When we arrived at the Yurt camp, they expected us to stay there. We should have arrived at lunchtime, not tea time. The driver then had to do the long drive back. They did try to put us under pressure to stay but that was not possible as we were travelling the next day. I would suggest that the company carefully checks. We were given the first day of the two day trip, rather than the one day trip.…”
